Alex here. WOOT! It’s good to be back blogging again. Could you imagine a better forum than the Macro Records blog? Let me start of by outlining the plans for my Weekly (Saturday) blog post. Dais: A raised platform in a large room or hall that people stand on when performing or speaking to an audience. Saturday+Dais = Saturdais. I plan on showcasing three tracks in each post and I’m going to try to stick to a specific genre of EDM each week. I want to showcase as many free downloads as possible but I will also be showcasing some releases available on Beatport or other retailers as well. That being said let’s get straight into it with our inaugural post for Saturdais, the Trap Edition.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I have always been a fan of trap music in its original form. (relatively) Old school Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman, etc. This track brings all those awesome elements from the original “Trap” music with everything we know and love about trap in its current form. Tight drums and assorted percussion really bring this track together like glue. Awesome lyrics, and an epic sub bass make this track my ultimate selection for this week.
Number two on the list really caught my ear. A unique sound that i think hasn’t properly been represented in trap music yet. Beautiful female/male vocals, flawlessly arranged are really what does it for me. Simple drums & percussion did this track some serious justice as well. For trap it’s also strangely melodic, yet it works and I found myself getting lost in this track. Consider the mesmerizing synthwork the cherry on top. 🙂
This last track carries a serious amount of weight with me. Not only was it released on Macro Records in support of Hurricane victims and geared towards the release effort but it is produced by one of my favorite Artists, Run DMT. Classic trap feel with simple, yet intricate drums & percussion. It also takes on sounds and feelings from various other genres, Glitch-Hop, Hip-Hop, Electro, and the list keeps going. I truly find Run DMT one of the most creative and unique artists I’ve ever heard.
Well guys, that was a lot of fun. Check back in next Saturday for the 2nd installment of Saturdais.
