Take Me Away #29

I’m not sure if it’s because 2014 has almost come and gone or that I might be seeing another milestone birthday in the next couple of months, but time has me thinking. I am thinking about a time in which all electronic music, or dance music was labeled as “Techno”. Just that one word to sum up the scene and its music. Fast-forward now to the year 2014, a couple of genres have come around to dominate the scene. Classic Techno and House vibes are starting to make a resurgence. Time is being cyclical and winding like strands of genetic code, which seems to interact with previous versions of itself and therefore Techno and House have come back into the limelight, for better or for worse.

I would have to say that the revival of these genres fills me with a tinge of nostalgia. I almost want to go back to wearing JNCO jeans and candy and going to shady parties in dark industrial parts of town, ALMOST. The reason I’m feeling nostalgic though isn’t because of one of the old school heads like Cox or Oakenfold, Prodigy or The Chemical Brothers, instead it is from a kid that is coming up fast in the scene, Raul Facio.

Raul Facio (BLOG)

The young performer is making major waves and is entirely worth listening to over and over again. He has received some well-deserved recognition lately. He recently appeared on the first episode of the Immersions Podcast and laid down a really solid DJ set. Take a listen and see what all of the fuss is about, you won’t be disappointed.

His track titled “No Stress” has been getting lots of DJ play, even from established artists like Richie Hawtin.

The kid is making waves and whichever direction they are heading I will be likely to follow. Do yourself a favor and follow this budding young producer and get to know some more of his music!
